LEGAL NOTICE 65 OF 2020 – CLOSURE OF THE COURTS OF JUSTICE ORDER, 2020

The Superintendent of Public Health has ordered the closure of the Courts of Justice in Malta by virtue of Legal Notice 65 of 2020. This order is effective from the 16th of March, 2020, until the order is revoked.

The Courts of Justice includes both superior and inferior courts, including any appellate courts, irrespective of their competence or jurisdiction. Furthermore, any tribunal established by law, together with any boards, commissions, committees or other entities before which any proceedings are heard or procedures undertaken which are subject to legal or administrative time limits are also affected.

The order was taken following calls from various stakeholders, including the Chamber of Advocates, to close the courts until further notice to further curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
